Dániel Gazdag scored the game-winning goal in the third minute of second-half stoppage time to give the New England Revolution a 2-1 win over New York City FC on Wednesday night at Citi Field. Carles Gil opened the scoring for New England in the 12th minute with a penalty kick awarded after a foul on Aiden O’Neill. Luighi Hanri Sousa Santos tied the match for New York City FC in the 71st minute, assisted by Nicolás Fernández and Hannes Wolf. Gazdag, who subbed into the match in the 72nd minute, secured the victory off assists from Ilay Feingold and Brooklyn Raines. Matt Turner made five saves for the Revolution, while Matt Freese recorded four saves for New York City FC. New England travels to face the Chicago Fire on Sunday, while New York City FC plays at Real Salt Lake on Saturday.
