Darby Allin successfully defended his TNT Championship against Mark Davis during the September 2 broadcast of AEW Dynamite. The match, which saw significant brawling outside the ring involving a skateboard and a balcony jump, concluded after Allin landed consecutive Coffin Drops for the pinfall. Davis had challenged Allin on behalf of the Don Callis Family following Allin's title victory over Kevin Knight at All In. Immediately after the match, Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero attempted an assault on the champion, which prompted Steve Borden to intervene. The segment ended when Josh Alexander returned to the promotion, attacking Borden from behind to leave the Don Callis Family in control of the ring.
