Desert Sun readers select Week 4 candidates for football hero award

The Palm Springs Desert Sun opened voting for its weekly Friday Night Hero football award following the conclusion of Week 4 action. Fans have until 5 p.m. on Tuesday to select a winner from five candidates who turned in standout performances. The finalists include Caleb Hartwell of La Quinta, Marcus Kennedy of Palm Springs, Joe Mejia of Xavier Prep, and Drew Pham and Ty Wiltrout of Palm Desert. Last week, readers selected Palm Springs quarterback Devin Session as the recipient after he accounted for five touchdowns against Coachella Valley. While local teams finished the week with a combined 3-10 record, the poll aims to highlight notable individual efforts from the recent slate of games. The winner of the Week 4 poll will be announced following the Tuesday deadline.
