Detroit Lions release veteran wide receiver Greg Dortch before roster deadline

The Detroit Lions released wide receiver Greg Dortch as part of roster moves required to reach the NFL-mandated 53-man limit by 6:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. Dortch joined the Lions in March 2026 on a one-year contract, reuniting with offensive coordinator Drew Petzing, with whom he previously worked at the Arizona Cardinals. The receiver logged 145 career receptions for 1,310 yards and 10 touchdowns before this release. Alongside Dortch, the club also released rookie defensive lineman Tyre West, defensive tackle Myles Adams, linebacker Troy Reeder, and tight end Zach Horton. The Lions recently completed their preseason schedule with a 2-1 record following a win over the Indianapolis Colts. The team will open the 2026 regular season against the New Orleans Saints on September 13 at Ford Field.
