Dodgers reliever Edgardo Henríquez shows increased performance in high-leverage innings

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Edgardo Henríquez has emerged as a key late-inning option out of the bullpen. During Tuesday night's game at Dodger Stadium, Henríquez took over for Tarik Skubal in the eighth inning to face the top of the Cincinnati Reds batting order. After allowing a double, he recorded a strikeout to exit the frame. The 24-year-old pitcher has posted a 2.62 ERA and 69 strikeouts over 58 1/3 innings this season. His recent performance has been notable for increased velocity, with his four-seam fastball and sinker both averaging over 100 mph. Since early August, Henríquez has allowed only one run while striking out 24 batters over 16 appearances. He previously transitioned to a relief role after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2022 and pitching across four minor league levels in 2024.
