San Francisco Giants claim Duncan Davitt off waivers from Atlanta Braves

The San Francisco Giants claimed right-handed pitcher Duncan Davitt off waivers from the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. Davitt was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento by the Giants, who designated Spencer Bivens for assignment to accommodate the move on the 40-man roster. The 26-year-old pitcher joined the Atlanta organization earlier this month after a trade with the Chicago White Sox but did not appear in a game for the club. Throughout the season, Davitt recorded a 6.29 ERA across 73 innings with 78 strikeouts in the minor leagues. The Atlanta roster saw further movement on Wednesday as the team placed Bryce Elder on the injured list following right knee surgery. Additionally, the Braves activated Reynaldo López from the injured list and selected the contract of Bailey Falter. Atlanta currently holds an 85-61 record and maintains a three-game lead in the National League East.
