Draymond Green nearly signed with the Memphis Grizzlies in 2023

Draymond Green disclosed that he almost left the Golden State Warriors for the Memphis Grizzlies during the 2023 offseason. Green stated that the Grizzlies offered a contract worth $10 million more annually than the initial package presented by the Warriors. The veteran forward eventually contacted the Warriors front office to request a sign-and-trade deal to facilitate his departure. Golden State responded by entering negotiations with Memphis, though the franchise ultimately adjusted terms in a way that convinced Green they remained committed to his return. Green reached a four-year, $100 million agreement to stay with the Warriors at the conclusion of those talks. He later exercised a player option and signed a one-year deal worth over $27 million this year.
