On July 1, 2026, eleven FBS programs will shift conference affiliations as part of ongoing realignment. Teams moving to the Pac-12 from the Mountain West include Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Utah State, and Texas State. Louisiana Tech will join the Sun Belt after leaving Conference USA, while UTEP transitions to the Mountain West. Northern Illinois and North Dakota State move from the MAC and FCS, respectively, to the Mountain West, with Sacramento State also jumping to the MAC, increasing the FBS to 138 teams.
