UNM track athletes Habtom Samuel and Pamela Kosgei earn Mountain West honors

College SportsHabtom Samuel and Pamela Kosgei of UNM each received Mountain West Athlete of the Year honors, a first for any school in the conference's history. Samuel remained undefeated in 13 race starts this year, claiming titles at four NCAA championships. Kosgei, coming off a remarkable freshman year, earned five All-American honors and led UNM to Mountain West championships. Additionally, La Cueva High School graduate Akili Carris was named the Mountain West Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, contributing to UNM's record of having the most academic honors in the league this year.
