Eric Becker signs with Reds, makes professional debut for Dragons

College SportsEric Becker recently transitioned from college baseball at the University of Virginia to professional play after being drafted by the Cincinnati Reds. Becker played his last game on May 31, was selected as the No. 58 overall pick in the MLB draft on July 11, and signed a contract with the Reds on July 21. He reported to the Dayton Dragons for his professional debut on August 6. In his first game, Becker had a two-hit night and contributed to an 8-2 victory. He is now set to play second base and serve as the regular leadoff hitter as the Dragons prepare for the upcoming playoffs beginning September 8.
