ESPN announcer and current Hastings College head baseball coach Victor Rojas revealed this week that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The 58-year-old broadcaster identified the illness roughly one week ago following a routine PSA screening, which allowed for an early diagnosis. Rojas, who spent 11 seasons as the television voice of the Los Angeles Angels, most recently called ESPN’s Little League World Series coverage last month. He plans to undergo surgery in the near future to remove his prostate entirely. Following the procedure, he intends to complete a recovery period to return to his coaching duties ahead of the upcoming season. The son of former MLB All-Star Cookie Rojas, Victor transitioned into coaching in 1993 after pitching in the Angels organization.
