Fabián Ruiz eyes Ballon d’Or following trophy-laden season with Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabián Ruiz has publicly identified the Ballon d’Or as his next professional objective. The 30-year-old Spaniard completed a season in which he secured domestic league titles, the Champions League, and the UEFA Super Cup while also achieving success with the Spain national team. Despite sustaining several injuries that disrupted his availability at the start of 2026, Ruiz maintained a central role in the tactical system established by manager Luis Enrique. He acknowledges that the competition for the award remains significant as he looks to follow teammate Ousmane Dembélé in the voting process. Ruiz recently stated in an interview with Téléfoot that he considers the individual honour a fitting potential recognition for his team-based accomplishments over the past year. He appeared in 34 matches across all competitions for the French club during his latest campaign.
