Former Penn State tight end Joey Schlaffer prepares to face former team

Joey Schlaffer, a former Penn State tight end now playing for Temple, will face his previous school this Saturday at noon. Schlaffer transferred from the program following the coaching change that saw Matt Campbell take over the Lions. He appeared in seven games across three seasons at Penn State before entering the transfer portal and selecting Temple. The 6-5, 250-pound player recently saw action as a reserve in Temple's 38-14 victory over Rhode Island. He joins three other former Penn State players on the current Owls roster, including quarterback Jaxon Smolik, safety Kolin Dinkins, and defensive end Kaleb Artis. Schlaffer noted that the matchup lacks special significance for him given the significant roster and coaching turnover at Penn State since his departure.
