Journalism, a 4-year-old colt and winner of the Preakness Stakes, has been retired following an injury sustained during the San Diego Handicap at Del Mar. After breaking slowly, he managed to rally and win the race, marking his first victory in nearly a year. Trained by Michael McCarthy, Journalism retires with seven wins from 14 starts, earning $4,770,755. He is slated to begin stallion duty next year at Coolmore’s Ashford Farm in Kentucky.
