Former TCU safety Jacob Fields faces assault charge after locker room incident

Former TCU safety Jacob Fields turned himself in to Tarrant County authorities on August 30 to face an aggravated assault charge involving serious bodily injury. The charge stems from an August 13 locker room altercation where Fields allegedly struck teammate Dozie Ezukanma. TCU dismissed Fields from the football program on August 18. The incident sparked friction between the university and media covering the team after TCU briefly rescinded the credentials of Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporter Steven Johnson. Officials cited concerns that the journalist provided inaccurate information regarding the altercation. Ezukanma remains on the team roster but did not participate in Saturday's 15-10 loss against North Carolina in Dublin, Ireland.
