Fort Defiance wins four matches at Tom Farruggio Invitational

Fort Defiance finished with a perfect record at the Tom Farruggio Invitational volleyball tournament on August 29 in Fluvanna. The team swept four opponents, starting with a 25-13, 25-5 victory over East Rockingham and a 25-6, 25-19 win against Broadway. Fort Defiance continued the trend by beating Western Albemarle 25-17, 25-20 and closing the day with a 25-14, 25-16 win against Central Woodstock. Head coach Amber Pitsenbarger reached 100 career wins during the event and now holds a total of 102 victories in her fifth season. Caroline Hanger, Alexis Miller, and Harper Carter were among the primary contributors across the day’s competition. The squad opened its season on August 25 with a victory over Turner Ashby and maintains an undefeated start to the current campaign.
