Friends and families maintain a fantasy football league for three decades

A group of friends who started a fantasy football league in 1998 continues to hold an annual in-person draft every Labor Day. The league, known as DOBERMAN FFL, began as a way for friends to compete without the use of modern apps or computers. Following the death of founding member David Hoberman in 2000, the group decided to continue the tradition in his memory. The league has since evolved into a multigenerational activity, with the children of the original members now participating as teammates. This tradition gained recent public attention after a video of the group’s manual, paper-based draft process circulated on social media. Members view the annual gathering primarily as a way to maintain their longstanding personal friendships.
