Gabby Thomas returns to the track for 100m race in Rovereto

Olympic champion Gabby Thomas headlines the women’s 100m field at the Palio Città della Quercian meeting in Rovereto, Italy, on Tuesday. The event, part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver series, marks the first time Thomas has raced the 100m distance since April 24, when she recorded her first career sub-11 performance in Nairobi. Thomas last competed on the track during the London Diamond League on July 18, where she placed second in the 200m with a time of 21.81. She will be joined in the 100m field by training partner Cambrea Sturgis, who holds a season best of 10.92. This appearance initiates a late-season European tour for Thomas, who is also scheduled to compete at the World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest and the Athlos London meet later this month.
