Gasly's third place in Monaco reinstated after successful appeal
Summary

Pierre Gasly's third place finish at the Monaco Grand Prix has been reinstated after Alpine successfully contested two penalties for pit-lane speeding. Initially, these penalties had dropped him from third to seventh place. Following a right of review, the FIA stewards rescinded the time penalties, restoring Gasly's position. Pierre Gasly has been returned to third place in the Monaco Grand Prix after his Alpine team successfully appealed against a penalty for pit-lane speeding. The Frenchman was demoted to seventh place after the race by two five-second penalties for exceeding the pit lane speed limit. A 'right of review' hearing requested by Alpine established that cars could legally drive a shorter distance in the pit lane than officials has used in their calculations.

Pierre Gasly has had his Monaco podium reinstated after Formula One accepted inaccuracies over the pit-lane speeding measurements in Monaco in what George Russell described as “another kick in the balls”. Russell was one of five drivers punished for pit-lane speeding in the principality last weekend and a failure by Mercedes to serve his penalty correctly meant he was also hit by a drive-through sanction which dropped him out of the points.
