Gemma Stevens secures victory at the Burghley Horse Trials

Gemma Stevens claimed her first win at the Burghley Horse Trials on Sunday. The 41-year-old Olympian finished on a dressage score of 29.6 after executing a faultless showjumping round aboard Chilli Knight. This result marks the biggest victory of her 25-year career and her first win at a five-star event in 31 attempts. Katie Magee finished in second place riding Treworra, while Caroline Pamukcu took third on HSH Blake. The win serves as recovery for Stevens following a difficult performance at the World Championships in Aachen last month where she did not complete the cross-country phase. Stevens previously won a five-star event at Bicton in 2021 when Burghley was cancelled due to the pandemic.
