Giants rookie receiver Malachi Fields earns WR2 spot for regular season

New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malachi Fields enters the regular season as the team’s WR2. General manager Joe Schoen traded up in the third round of this year’s draft to select the Notre Dame product. At 6-foot-4, Fields provides the Giants with a large target who demonstrated contested-catch ability during training camp and preseason games. He caught a touchdown pass from Jaxson Dart during the preseason opener against the Vikings. The coaching staff plans to feature Fields alongside Malik Nabers in the team’s run-first offense. Beyond his receiving duties, Fields also contributed as a blocker during the preseason to earn his spot on the depth chart.
