Gleyber Torres is nearing a return to the Detroit Tigers for Tuesday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. He has begun a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo after being placed on the injured list on May 6 due to a mild left oblique strain. The Tigers stated that Torres is healthy but needs game action to regain his timing. A return would allow the Tigers to stabilize their infield and reintegrate his bat after his absence since May 2. However, the team has not confirmed his activation for Tuesday, and they are monitoring his performance in Toledo.
- •Torres started his rehab assignment on May 30.
- •He has not played in a major league game since May 2.
- •Detroit placed him on the 10-day injured list retroactive to May 4.
- •He was batting.259 with two home runs and 11 RBIs before the injury.
- •The Tigers have not confirmed his return for the game against the Rays.
