Golden State Warriors review the 1980 trade of Robert Parish

The Golden State Warriors front office executed an ill-fated trade before the 1980 NBA Draft that sent Robert Parish and the No. 3 overall pick to the Boston Celtics. In exchange, the Warriors received the No. 1 and No. 13 overall picks. The team drafted Joe Barry Carroll with the first pick and Rickey Brown with the 13th. While Carroll recorded one All-Star appearance in seven seasons with the franchise, Parish went on to a Hall of Fame career and three titles in Boston. The Celtics used the third pick to select Kevin McHale, who secured seven All-Star selections and three championships. This personnel shift preceded six consecutive seasons without a playoff appearance for the Warriors. The franchise eventually rebounded in the late 1980s, though they later endured a 12-year postseason drought beginning after the 1993-94 season.
