Golden Tempo wins Belmont Stakes, parallels to Secretariat disputed

Summary

Golden Tempo claimed victory at the Belmont Stakes on June 6, securing his second major Grade 1 win of the season. Under jockey Jose Ortiz, he finished the race in 2:03.49, marking a successful return after winning the Kentucky Derby on May 2. Despite his impressive performance, fans have expressed skepticism about comparing him to the legendary Secretariat, who set a record time of 2:24.00 at the 1973 Belmont. Golden Tempo, hailed as a promising horse with strong bloodlines, has shown consistent form throughout the 2026 season, winning three out of five races and earning $4,633,000. The debate over his potential legacy continues as he skips the Preakness to focus on rest and recovery.
