Goshen beats Penn in boys soccer after recovering from first loss

Goshen defeated Penn 2-0 in a boys soccer match held Thursday at Lionshead Field in Mishawaka. Yurem Hernandez broke a scoreless deadlock in the 47th minute, and Brandon Alvarez Ramos added a penalty kick goal roughly 14 minutes later to secure the win. The victory allowed the RedHawks to rebound following their first defeat of the season against Concord earlier in the week. Goshen played the contest without senior starter Rey Rodriguez, who was sidelined by a red card. The win moves Goshen to 7-1 on the season, while Penn drops to 5-2-4. Both teams reside in the same IHSAA 3A sectional and could meet again in the state tournament next month.
