Grayson Waller wins the NXT championship at Heatwave in Texas

WWE closed out a massive doubleheader, one that featured AAA Ola de Calor and NXT Heatwave, at the Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg, Texas today (Sun., Aug. 30, 2026) with a Fatal 4-Way match pitting Tony D’Angelo vs. Cruz Montana vs. Grayson Waller vs. Zilla Fatu with the NXT championship on the line. There were reasons to believe any of the four could emerge victorious, for a variety of reasons. And, of course, there were various points in the match that it looked like each man was going to win it, like Fatu hitting a jumping Samoan Spike on D’Angelo and getting a two count only because Waller was there to pull the referee from the ring. No disqualifications in a multi-man match like this. Waller seemed to take himself out of the match late when he had a rough landing through the announcer’s table on an elbow drop to Fatu. That left Tony D and Montana in the ring to duke it out. We learned quickly, though, that Waller wasn’t out of it at all — when Montana hit Spin the Block on D’Angelo, Waller rushed in and hit a Stunner to send Cruz out so he could pin the man who came in holding the title.
