Harbaugh's Chargers honor Billy Ray Smith during training camp in San Diego

Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers held training camp practices at Torero Stadium in San Diego on August 5, 2026. Before their first padded session, the team observed a moment of silence for former linebacker Billy Ray Smith, who passed away at 64. The Chargers wore “BR” helmet stickers in his memory. Harbaugh, who began his coaching career at the University of San Diego, is leading the team after consecutive playoff seasons.
