Hornets to extend Brandon Miller's contract amid franchise overhaul

Summary

The Charlotte Hornets are expected to extend the contract of Brandon Miller ahead of the upcoming season. Following the trade of LaMelo Ball, Miller and Kon Knueppel became the team's focal points, alongside acquiring future draft capital. ESPN's Tim MacMahon highlighted the Hornets' long-term strategy, suggesting that the moves indicate a shift away from relying on Ball as a franchise centerpiece. The team aims to build around Miller and Knueppel, though immediate success is not anticipated. The Hornets will face the Brooklyn Nets in their preseason opener soon after recently defeating the Memphis Grizzlies, 116-98.
