University of Illinois and University of Missouri athletic administrations continue to evaluate the scheduling and location for their 2027 football meeting. Athletic director Josh Whitman indicated in July that the specific site for the game remains under discussion. The schools previously signed an agreement to play a six-game series, though administrators reduced the initial eight-game plan last year. Currently, the 2028 game is set for Champaign and the 2029 contest is scheduled for Columbia. Potential neutral-site venues including St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago, or Nashville remain under consideration for the first series matchup. Missouri holds a 17-7 all-time advantage over Illinois in the rivalry series.
