Illinois basketball finalizes 2026-27 roster with signing of Quentin McCoy

Illinois head coach Brad Underwood added 6-foot-3 guard Quentin McCoy to the men's basketball roster this month, completing the team's 15-man scholarship group for the 2026-27 season. McCoy, a former walk-on at Arizona State, joins the program following a brief stint in Champaign. Underwood confirmed the addition at the 102nd annual C-U Kiwanis Tip-Off Event on Tuesday night at the I Hotel and Illinois Conference Center. Unlike other programs that sought fifth-year eligibility for Class of 2022 players through court injunctions, Underwood elected to avoid the legal process entirely. Illinois will face several opponents this season featuring fifth-year players who successfully challenged NCAA eligibility rules, including athletes from Minnesota, Missouri, Texas Tech, North Carolina, and Penn State. Illinois begins its exhibition schedule against Cincinnati in November.
