IndyCar maintains full-course caution rules after Detroit Grand Prix controversy

IndyCar's governing body confirmed that its full-course caution procedures will remain unchanged following the Detroit Grand Prix. The decision faced criticism after Kyle Kirkwood was adversely affected during the race, which was the first street circuit event since new rules were introduced. Raj Nair, chair of the Independent Officiating Board, defended race director Kyle Novak’s decisions made during the event, emphasizing safety over strategy. Kirkwood, who finished second, expressed hopes that the officiating might find a middle ground in future races. The new caution procedures will be revisited during the upcoming Grand Prix at Road America on June 21.
