J Batt expected to remain as athletic director at MSU

J Batt is anticipated to continue as Michigan State's athletic director despite the departure of president Kevin Guskiewicz, who left for Clemson on May 27. Brianna Scott, chair of the MSU Board of Trustees, stated her expectation for Batt's retention, citing his ongoing work and participation in meetings since Guskiewicz's exit. Batt's contract includes a clause that reduces his buyout if he leaves for another school. A third-party entity, Spartan Ventures, aimed at revenue generation and multimedia rights for MSU athletics, is set to launch on July 1. The university has not yet announced an interim president to fill Guskiewicz’s role on the Spartan Ventures board, leaving a degree of uncertainty around future leadership.
