Jackson Powers-Johnson competes for starting role with Raiders

Summary

Jackson Powers-Johnson has changed his approach at Raiders training camp, stepping back from social media to focus on his career. The offensive lineman, drafted in the second round in 2024, shares first-team repetitions with Caleb Rogers, who was picked in the third round last year. Powers-Johnson's performance has faced scrutiny due to injuries and inconsistent play, leading to competition for his starting right guard position. Raiders coach Klint Kubiak emphasized the importance of evaluating the best lineup as the preseason approaches.

What they're saying

"
Jackson Powers-Johnson has long been one of the more gregarious Raiders players since Las Vegas drafted him in the second round in 2024, his easygoing personality regularly on display in front of traditional and social media. Now he's off social media and in meeting with the mainstream form on Thursday, a much more businesslike Powers-Johnson stood at the podium. Powers-Johnson had started since the opening of training camp, until the past two days when he shared first-team repetitions with Rogers.
