JaCorey Thomas commits to West Virginia following eligibility court ruling

Former Georgia defensive back JaCorey Thomas has committed to West Virginia for his fifth collegiate season. Thomas was among nearly 40 athletes granted immediate eligibility following a temporary restraining order issued by a judge in Dallas. The court ruling challenged a policy enacted by the SEC that restricted participation for players previously associated with professional rosters, including time spent in NFL rookie minicamps. Thomas participated in minicamp with the Carolina Panthers earlier this year after starting for Georgia during the 2025 season. He recorded 45 tackles and one sack during his final campaign with the Bulldogs. The legal action named the NCAA, the SEC, and commissioner Greg Sankey as defendants following the conference's unanimous decision to ban athletes who had previously signed professional contracts or declared for professional drafts.
