Jake Haener signs with Giants; Alec Gamboa starts for Red Sox

Former Bulldogs quarterback Jake Haener has signed with the New York Giants as he aims to secure a backup role behind Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston. Haener was previously with the New Orleans Saints, where he appeared in eight games before being released. In Major League Baseball, Alec Gamboa, a former Fresno State player, made his first start for the Boston Red Sox against the Arizona Diamondbacks, pitching 1.1 innings and striking out one batter. This marks Gamboa's tenth game in the big leagues this season, where he holds a 1.47 earned run average.
