Jason Eck seeks larger crowds at University Stadium for coming home games

New Mexico football coach Jason Eck called for increased attendance at University Stadium following the team’s season-opening 38-7 win over Central Michigan. The Lobos recorded an attendance of 24,126, which marked the program's largest home opener crowd since 2014. Despite the turnout, Eck expressed a desire for more fans at the upcoming 2 p.m. home game against Mercyhurst scheduled for next Saturday. The team is currently building on a 9-4 record from last year, which helped drive a 58% increase in average home attendance. While the Lobos saw strong contributions from multiple quarterbacks, the staff is managing several injury concerns, including a concussion for receiver Shawn Miller. Offensive lineman Jaymar Tasi, tight end Tripp Walsh, and receiver Massiah Mingo also exited Saturday's game with undisclosed injuries, though freshman Danzel Newell earned high performance marks after entering in relief.
