J.J. McCarthy and Carson Wentz split second-team quarterback reps during an 80-minute practice with the Vikings on August 25. McCarthy, who lost the starting job to Kyler Murray, has struggled with accuracy in recent exhibition games. Wentz, who had a productive backup role last season, is seen as a stronger candidate to step in. With Max Brosmer also on the roster, McCarthy's position heading into Sunday’s roster cuts is uncertain, as the team may consider waiving him or trading him due to his guaranteed contract.
