Joe Musgrove set to return for Padres; Ramírez and Bolte emerge on waiver wire

Joe Musgrove, a starting pitcher for the Padres, is nearing his return from Tommy John surgery, having shown increased velocity in his minor league appearances. Musgrove averaged 95.0 mph in two Triple-A starts but struggled in his last outing, giving up five runs in 4 1/3 innings. Meanwhile, Cubs infielder Pedro Ramírez will fill in at second base for the injured Dansby Swanson, bringing a strong batting average and speed on the base paths. Athletics outfielder Henry Bolte is also making a name for himself, hitting.339 in August as the team's lineup faces injuries. Both Ramírez and Bolte are now popular waiver targets.
