Jordyn Brooks comments on Miami Dolphins releasing teammate Tyrel Dodson

Miami Dolphins linebacker Jordyn Brooks expressed surprise following the team's decision to release Tyrel Dodson during final roster cuts last weekend. The Dolphins trimmed their roster from 91 to 53 players by the Sunday deadline, parting ways with the veteran linebacker who started 16 games for the club in 2025. Brooks, who worked alongside Dodson for three seasons, stated that the departure is difficult due to their personal friendship but acknowledged the business nature of the NFL. Dodson recorded 129 tackles and five sacks last season before his release. Brooks is now expected to line up next to second-round rookie Jacob Rodriguez, whom the All-Pro linebacker praised for his maturity and consistent growth throughout the preseason. Dodson has since found a new team.
