Jose Mourinho assesses Real Madrid squad ahead of new season

Summary

Jose Mourinho prepares for the 2026-27 season as Real Madrid manager, having added new players and evaluating current ones. Mourinho has expressed concerns about left-back Alvaro Carreras, who struggled last season after a strong start. His position is further complicated by the signing of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea. Despite Mourinho's reservations, Carreras is expected to remain with the team as a backup. Discussions of Carreras moving to Chelsea have arisen, but the club is likely to retain him given the ongoing need for depth at left-back.
