Josef Newgarden drives pace car for NASCAR at Bristol Motor Speedway

Two-time Indianapolis 500 champion Josef Newgarden will serve as the pace car driver for the NASCAR Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sept. 19. The Tennessee native will lead the field to the green flag in a Chevrolet Corvette before the start of the Bass Pro Shops Night Race. Newgarden, who grew up attending events at the track with his father, has long cited the venue as a preferred destination in his racing career. The appearance serves as a crossover event between the NTT IndyCar Series and NASCAR during Team Penske’s 60th anniversary season. Additionally, the official pace car will feature a decal honoring Kyle Busch, who holds a career connection to both the speedway and Newgarden. Bristol officials confirmed the appointment as part of a scheduled tribute to Busch at the Tennessee facility.
