Josh Ford becomes head coach of New London girls basketball team

The New London girls basketball program appointed Josh Ford as its head coach for the 2026-27 season. Ford, an Athletic Hall of Fame standout at Mitchell College, previously served as an assistant under former coach Tammy Millsaps during the 2024-25 season. He takes over the position from Keyokah Mars-Garrick, who departed to lead the program at Stonington after one year. During the 2025-26 season, the Whalers finished with a 13-6 regular season record and experienced a second-round exit in the state tournament against Rocky Hill. Ford currently teaches special education at Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School and brings previous coaching experience from roles with the Ledyard boys basketball team and the New London boys volleyball program.
