Journal Star promotes Dave Eminian to sports editor role

The Journal Star has appointed veteran writer Dave Eminian as its new sports editor. Eminian, who has spent 42 years at the newspaper, previously served as the lead reporter for Bradley basketball and the Peoria Rivermen hockey team. He replaces Wes Huett, who held the position until his death in February. In his new capacity, Eminian will manage coverage of high school athletics, local collegiate basketball, and professional hockey. His career includes multiple state and national accolades, including three first-place awards this year from the Illinois Press Association. Eminian stated that he intends to honor the work of his predecessors while serving the Peoria sports market.
