Kentucky football opens season against Youngstown State with scoring drive

Kentucky football debuted an offense under head coach Will Stein during the season opener against Youngstown State at Kroger Field. Quarterback Kenny Minchey started his first collegiate game by completing five of five passing attempts for 61 yards on the opening drive. The possession spanned 75 yards in 3:31 and resulted in a 15-yard touchdown run by CJ Baxter. Minchey distributed the ball to four different receivers during the sequence. The team transitioned to a fast-paced offensive scheme following a period of roster turnover. Kentucky leads early in the game as the program tests a new strategy under Stein.
