Kenya awarded hosting rights for World Athletics Championships in 2029

Kenya has been selected to host the World Athletics Championships in 2029, marking the first time the event will take place in Africa. Nairobi secured the bid after competing against London and Rome. The decision follows significant renovations to the Kasarani Stadium, which had previously missed out on the chance to host in 2025. This selection aligns with Kenya's growing prominence in international sports, as the country will also co-host the Africa Cup of Nations next year and the Youth Olympic Games will commence in Dakar, Senegal, next month.
