Kirk Cousins and Maxx Crosby punished, Fernando Mendoza shines in practice

Summary

Kirk Cousins and Maxx Crosby were sidelined during practice on August 8 after a scuffle at Raiders camp, allowing rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza to take all first-team reps. Head coach Klint Kubiak confirmed the punishment for both players due to violations of team protocol. Mendoza performed well during his opportunity, demonstrating comfort and accuracy as the Raiders prepare for the upcoming season. The decision to not start Mendoza is part of a plan to develop young quarterbacks by learning under a veteran, potentially paving the way for future playing time if needed.
