Knightsbridge wins Pacific Classic, heightening Breeders' Cup interest

Knightsbridge secured a dominant victory in the Grade I $1,000,000 Pacific Classic at Del Mar on August 22, 2026. The five-year-old horse finished 6 ¼ lengths ahead of the competition, completing the race in 2:02.28. This performance positions Knightsbridge as one of the leading contenders for the upcoming Breeders' Cup Classic, alongside notable competitors such as Golden Tempo and Forever Young. Trained by William I. Mott and ridden by Junior Alvarado, Knightsbridge showcased his ability to cover the challenging distance, raising questions about his stamina in previous races. His record now stands at eight wins in twelve career starts, with earnings surpassing $1.5 million.
