The Knoxville Smokies defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts 4-0 on Friday behind a combined three-hit shutout from Dawson Netz and Tyler Schlaffer. Netz earned the win with five scoreless innings and nine strikeouts, while Schlaffer recorded a four-inning save. Elsewhere, the South Bend Cubs beat the Cedar Rapids Kernels 7-4, led by Dominick Reid in his High-A debut and a late save from JP Wheat. The Iowa Cubs dropped a 10-5 contest to the Columbus Clippers, despite a solo home run from Chas McCormick. The Myrtle Beach Pelicans game scheduled for Friday was rained out and will not be rescheduled as the season concludes tomorrow.
