Knoxville Smokies edge Rocket City, South Bend Cubs top Great Lakes

The Knoxville Smokies defeated the Rocket City Trash Pandas 5-4 in a Minor League Baseball game on August 16, 2026. Kane Kepley led Knoxville with a three-hit performance, including a home run, while Kevin Valdez earned the win for his six-inning outing. The South Bend Cubs also triumphed, beating the Great Lakes Loons 7-4. Brennan Hudson hit his first career home run to help South Bend secure a late victory. The Iowa Cubs fell to the St. Paul Saints 2-1 despite a strong pitching performance from Jordan Wicks, who recorded six strikeouts in five innings. The Myrtle Beach Pelicans game was rained out and will not be rescheduled.
