In a social media response, Irving urged ESPN to acknowledge Rajab's bravery, stating, "Her name is HIND RAJAB. And she was more brave than every single one of you at ESPN.” Irving also offered to cover Al-Shaair’s fine, which had drawn widespread criticism from fans and commentators. Irving has previously used his platform for social justice issues.
